Day One

Its officially the 19th so today I'm starting my Downsizing Journey! Yes I saw "Julie-Julia" and that inspired me to start a blog - with a deadline.

I've also been reading "End to Overeating" by Kessler. I really saw myself in the first few pages.

My goal is to lose 78 lbs and downsize the clutter in my house over the next 18 months. Since I'm now a diabetic the main focus is increasing my activity and making healthier food choices. Not sure how many pounds my house needs to lose :-) so I'll need specific goals for organizing - I'll post those later. And plan to break the journey down into 6 month mini goal segments.

Today: Weight 228 lbs Waistline 46 inches House: Cluttered!

To GO: 78 lbs 549 days

  1. Hello, Dee! Thanks for visiting my blog and taking the time to comment - it means a lot! Feels less alone in this journey :)
I need to read that book! I also have decluttering as a big goal of mine! It's been slow going, but it's getting better. I think I can be more aggressive, though, I think I just need a written down plan of action.
I thought about checking out that Peter Walsh (spelling?) guy who was on Oprah. Do you have set plans for the decluttering?

Congratulations on taking the first step for both your journeys. I am excited for you, it's going to be wonderful to follow your journey to success! And you shall have it!

  2. Since you're a fairly new blogger, I can go back and read all your posts!

I love that you are decluttering your life! It's an amazing thing.

After Christmas, I was so down I asked my husband to help me clean the house. I just felt overwhelmed and tired. He had a week off from work. He suggested we order a dumpster, and instead declutter. In over a week, we got rid of everything. The dumpster was filled. We donated hundreds of books to our library. We took van loads of donations to the Salvation Army. It was amazing. It was one of the best gifts I have ever received. I was in the 280s and just moving was difficult, but that gave me the inspiration and lift I needed to boost my spirits, and then start decluttering my body.

I wish you well on your journey!
